Purple Heart Awarded to any member of the Armed Forces who, after April 5, 1917, has been wounded, killed, or who has died or may hereafter die of wounds received as a Prisoner of War.
Prisoner of War Medal Authorized for issue to any person who, while serving in any capacity with the Armed Forces, was taken prisoner and held captive after April 5, 1917.
American Campaign Service Medal Awarded for military service within the American Theater between December 7, 1941 and March 2, 1946.
Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal Awarded for military service with the Asiatic-Pacific Theater between December 7, 1941 and March 2, 1946.
World War II Victory Medal Awarded for military service between December 7, 1941 and December 31, 1946, both dates inclusive.
PVT Ulysis B. Carr entered the Army at Montgomery Alabama,
Enlisting on 15 February, 1941,
and his loss is recorded in the
Alabama World War II Honor List of Dead and Missing,
page 19, Marshall County,
published by the War Department in June 1946.
His name is not found on the American Battle Monuments Commission website.
Online sources (Mansell.com, Mukden (Hoten) Timeline) indicate that PVT Carr was Killed In Action as a result of Allied B-29 bomber raids on Mukden factories when two Allied bombs
fell within the Camp Hoten perimeter, killing 18 other POWs and wounding more than 30 on December 7, 1944.
