Purple Heart Awarded to any member of the Armed Forces who, after April 5, 1917, has been wounded, killed, or who has died or may hereafter die of wounds received under any of the following circumstances:
Before April 25, 1962, while held as a prisoner of war in the same manner as a former prisoner of war who is wounded on or after that date while held as a prisoner of war.
Prisoner of War Medal Authorized for issue to any person who, while serving in any capacity with the Armed Forces, was taken prisoner and held captive after April 5, 1917.
American Campaign Service Medal Awarded for military service within the American Theater between December 7, 1941 and March 2, 1946.
Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal Awarded for military service with the Asiatic-Pacific Theater between December 7, 1941 and March 2, 1946.

A. The American Battle Monuments Commission website identifies his assigned unit as the 60th Coast Artillery Regiment (AntiAircraft), Harbor Defenses of Manila and Subic Bays.
B. At the time PVT Kent died, his POW Ship was in the Bashi Straits, South China Sea on October 24, 1944.
C. Hospital Admission Records indicate that PVT Kent died as a result of his "Boat, Sunk or Damaged".
