A. The States Lists from National Archives: "BERCHOT, Delbert Glenn, Aviation Metalsmith, 3c, USN. Father, Mr. David Jacob Berchot, Rt. 4, Box 1000, Tacoma, Wash".
B. The Find A Grave listing has a photo of a memorial marker for the crew of Consolidated "Catalina" PBY-5A Serial 2487 seaplane with details of the aircraft accident.
C. Navy records indicate that on April 5, 1942 the Catalina" PBY-5A took off piloted by Ensign William H. Howe with a crew of nine from Patrol Squadron 11 (VP-11) on a long range patrol.
They returned in bad weather with rain squalls, low overcast and poor visibility. While descending the aircraft crashed at Makapuu Point on Oahu. The entire crew was killed on impact.
