A. His Application For Headstone or Marker, OQMG Form 623, identifies his assigned unit as the 165th Infantry Regiment, 27th Infantry Division.
B. At the time PFC Bottke was Killed In Action the 27th Infantry Division was conducting combat operations on Saipan during July 1944.
C. Hospital Admission Records indicate that PFC Bottke died during July 1944, as a result of unknown combat wounds.
D. A newspaper clipping on his Find A Grave page lists that PFC Bottke died on Saipan.
E. Further information on the 165th Infantry Regiment and the 27th Infantry Division can be found at the Wikipedia
