A. The American Battle Monuments Commission website identifies his assigned unit as the 346th Engineer General Service Regiment, (No Division Listed).

B. At the time PVT Barwell died the 346th was stationed in England from August 1942 to June 1944.

C. Hospital Admission Records indicate that PVT Barwell died on September 10, 1942, as a result of a Non-Combat Cerebral hemorrhage.

D. Limited information was found on the 346th Engineer General Service Regiment. History of this unit can be found at the U.S. Army Center of Military History site 346th Engineer General Service Regiment.
