  Before April 25, 1962, while held as a prisoner of war in the same manner as a former prisoner of war who is wounded on or after that date while held as a prisoner of war.
Prisoner of War Medal Authorized for issue to any person who, while serving in any capacity with the Armed Forces, was taken prisoner and held captive after April 5, 1917.
American Campaign Service Medal Awarded for military service within the American Theater between December 7, 1941 and March 2, 1946.
Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal Awarded for military service with the Asiatic-Pacific Theater between December 7, 1941 and March 2, 1946.
World War II Victory Medal Awarded for military service between December 7, 1941 and December 31, 1946, both dates inclusive.

PVT Thomas entered the Army Air Corps from Oneida County, Idaho,
Enlisting on 16 September, 1941, at Fort Douglas, Utah
and his loss is recorded in the
Idaho World War II Honor List of Dead and Missing, page 7, Oneida County,
published by the War Department in June 1946.

His name is also found on the American Battle Monuments Commission website.
