He entered the US Army from Winston County, Alabama,
Enlisting at Fort McClellan Alabama on on August 28, 1943.

Hs loss is recorded in the
Alabama World War II Honor List of Dead and Missing, page 27, Winston County,
published by the War Department in June 1946.

His name is not listed on the American Battle Monuments Commission (ABMC) website.


Note 1: The death location, "Northern Italy" is based on the following sources:

A. FindAGrave.com grave marker photo inscription identifies his rank and assigned unit as: "PFC, 349 INF, 88 INF DIV WORLD WAR II."

B. The US Army 88th Infantry Division records state that during October 1944, the 88th Infantry Division was conducting defensive operations in Northern Italy. The 88th Inf Div opened its assault on the Gothic Line on September 21, 1944, and advanced rapidly along the Firenzuola-Imola road, taking Mount Battaglia (Casola Valsenio, RA) on the 28th. The enemy counterattacked savagely and heavy fighting continued on the line toward the Po Valley. The strategic positions of Mount Grande and Farnetto were taken on 20 and 22 October.
