Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal Awarded for military service with the Asiatic-Pacific Theater between December 7, 1941 and March 2, 1946.
World War II Victory Medal Awarded for military service between December 7, 1941 and December 31, 1946, both dates inclusive.
PFC Poore was born June 2, 1914
and National Archive Records indicate he entered the US Army from Winston County,
Alabama, Enlisting at Fort McClellan Alabama on December 10, 1940.
His loss is recorded in the
Alabama World War II Honor List of Dead and Missing,
page 27, Winston County,
published by the War Department in June 1946.
His name is not listed on the American Battle Monuments Commission website.
Note 1: The death location, "Island of Saipan" is based on the best information available at this time. In the case of PFC Poore, this location was not
verified by eyewitness statement or official After Action Report. Rescarching multiple online sources, this location was estimated based on:
A. The Find A Grave website lists his assigned unit as the 105th Infantry Regiment, 27th Infantry Division and his date of death as 9 July 1944.
B. The general location of his unit, the 27th Infantry Division, on July 29, 1944, was performing offensive operations on the Island of Saipan.
