Pfc. James L. Anderson Dies Of Battle Wounds
Pfc. James L. Anderson, 26, son of Mr. and Mrs. G. S. Anderson, of Pine Apple, is reported by the War Department as having died on Oct. 31, of wounds received in action in France on Oct. 28.
In the Army for approximately one year, Pfc. Anderson had been overseas since May, 1944. He had basic training at Camp Wheeler, Ga., and after going overseas saw action in both Italy and France.
In addition to his parents, survivors are: Three sisters, Mrs. Dillard Anderson, Evergreen; Mrs. William B. Little, Greenville; Miss Lynn Anderson, Pine apple; one brother, Lewis Anderson, Pine Apple.

by eyewitness statement or official After Action Report. This location was estimated on:
A. The OQMG FORM 623 Application For Headstone Or Marker documents his assigned unit as Company E, 141st Infantry Regiment, 36th Infantry Division,
date of birth as June 25, 1918 and date of death as October 31, 1944. The Enlistment date was November 11, 1943, Army Serial No. is 34817548 and applicant signature is Ines (Perkins) Anderson on May 28, 1948.
B. US Army Records for the 141st Infantry Regiment report the unit was located near the Vosges Mountains in Eastern France near the border with Germany during October 1944.
C. As the above December 1944 news artical indicates, PFC Anderson was wounded in combat on October 28, 1944 and most likely had been evacuated to a rear medical treatment detachment in France before he died of those wounds on October 31.
