A. His ABMC Form 1, Headstone Inscription And Interment Record, identifies his assigned unit as the 358th Bomber Squadron, 303rd Bomber Group.

B. At the time 2LT Clumpner was Killed In Action his B-17 was shot down by enemy fighters on a bombing mission to Berlin. The aircraft went down in the North Sea, possibly near St. Peter, in Holstein.
