Son of Ernest Alexis Bornander and Margaret D. Anderson Bornander

Edwin married Elma Anderson Bornander in Gardnerville, Nevada on September 8,1942.

There were no records found that would indicate Edwin and Elma had children.

He voluntarily entered into the US Army from the
ROTC Program at Washington State College in Pullman.

His loss is recorded in the
Washington World War II Honor List of Dead and Missing, page 12, Pierce County,
published by the War Department in June 1946.

A. The American Battle Monuments Commission website identifies his assigned unit as the 15th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division.

B. At the time CAPT Bornander was Killed In Action the 3rd Infantry Division was conducting combat operations in and near Anzo, Italy during November 1943.

C.Find A-Grave records indicate that CAPT Bornander died during November 1943, as a result of combat wounds from a "shell fragment."
