PVT James H. Tidwell was born July 10, 1925, the son of Robert F. and Flora Tidwell.
He entered the US Army from Winston County, Alabama, enlisting at Fort McClellan Alabama
on November 10, 1943.

His loss is recorded in the
Alabama World War II Honor List of Dead and Missing, page 27, Winston County,
published by the War Department in June 1946.

His name is not listed on the American Battle Monuments Commission website.

Note 1: The death location, "Near Livergnano, Italy" is based on the best information available at this time. In the case of PFC Tidwell, this location was not verified by eyewitness statement or U.S. Army After Action Report. This location was estimated based on:

A. FindAGrave.com grave marker inscription "AL Pvt 363 Inf WWII", identifying his unit as the 363rd Infantry Regiment, 91st Infantry Division.

B. The 91st Infantry Division was conducting offensive operations in and around Livergnano Italy during October 1944.
