Alabama, Enlisting at Fort McClellan Alabama on April 8, 1941.

His loss is recorded in the
Alabama World War II Honor List of Dead and Missing, page 27, Winston County,
published by the War Department in June 1946.

His name is not listed on the American Battle Monuments Commission website.

Note 1: The death location, "On New Georgia, Solomon Islands" is based on the best information available at this time. In the case of PVT Roden, this location was not verified by eyewitness statement or official After Action Report. Rescarching multiple online sources, this location was estimated based on:

A. The Find A Grave website grave marker photo shows his assigned unit as the 169th Infantry Regiment, 43rd Infantry Division, his date of birth as June 18, 1916 and his date of death on August 12, 1943, age 27.

B. The location of his unit, the 43rd Infantry Division, was landing on New Georgia and conducting offensive operations July thru August 1943.
