Oak Leaf Cluster denotes second award.
American Campaign Service Medal Awarded for military service within the American Theater between December 7, 1941 and March 2, 1946.
European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal Awarded for military service for service within the European-African-MiddleEastern Theater between December 7, 1941 and November 8, 1945.

PFC James Prestridge was the husband of Pearl Edith Nix Prestridge and father of Travis D. Prestridge.
He entered the US Army from Winston County, Alabama, enlisting at Fort McClellan Alabama
on November 1, 1942.

His loss is recorded in the
Alabama World War II Honor List of Dead and Missing, page 27, Winston County,
published by the War Department in June 1946.

His name is listed on the American Battle Monuments Commission (ABMC) website.

Note 1: The death location, "Central Italy" is based on the best information available at this time. In the case of PFC Prestridge, this location was not verified by eyewitness statement or U.S. Army After Action Report. This location was estimated based on:

A. ABMC website identifies his assigned unit as the 30th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division.

B. US Army records report that during May 1944 the 3rd Infantry Division Fought in Operation Diadem, breaking enemy defenses on the Gustav Line in the Liri valley, central Italy.
