PFC James F. Walker was born July 18, 1932 in Oklahoma
Son of Herman J Walker and Mabel Mae Dell Willis Walker

He voluntarily enlisted into the US Army from the state of Oklahoma,
Enlisting on June 20, 1949.

  On the morning of January 9, 1962 Private First Class James Walker was a passenger on an Army five-ton truck on route to a training area at Fort Hood, Texas. In the early morning darkness the five-ton truck collided with an Army M-48 Tank. The impact punctured and ripped the 70-gallon gasoline tank from the truck and resulted in a fire that killed five soldiers and injuring 22 others, three seriously. PFC Walker was one of the three seriously injured soldiers.
  On January 11th PFC Walker and eleven other injuried soldiers were airlifted from Fort Hood Army Medical Center to Brooke Army Medical Center on Fort Sam Houston. Despite the best medical care available, James Franklin Walker died on January 26, 1962.
